Drown

Two-knob doom fuzz

Installing

macOS. Run Drown-macOS.pkg. It installs the AU, VST3 and Standalone into a Siesta Audio folder where your DAW expects them. It is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens with no security warnings.

Windows. Run Drown-Windows.exe (or use the portable zip to drop the files in by hand). The first time, SmartScreen may say "Windows protected your PC" — click More info → Run anyway. It is a one-time step.

Linux. Unpack Drown-Linux-x86_64.tar.gz and copy the .vst3 into ~/.vst3. There is no installer; the Standalone runs from wherever you put it.

Quit your DAW before installing. A plugin that is currently loaded cannot be replaced.

Activating

The first time you open Drown, it asks for your license. Paste the license from your email and hit unlock. It checks out offline and never contacts the internet.

It works on every computer you own. Paste the same license into each.
The license is per-brand: if you bought the Adrift + Drown pair, one paste unlocks both.
Until it is activated, Drown passes your dry signal through untouched. No demo cripple, no noise.

The two knobs

MurkThe weight. Everyday doom to a crushing wall. Brings up the fuzz, the octave-below sub, and the tightness together, dirty from the first hair of the knob.

DepthThe drown. A dark room to a bottomless drone. Turn it up and the note blooms into a cavern and hangs there.

MixBlends the finished Drown tone against your dry signal. Full for an insert; pull it back on a bus to keep your attack up front with the drone underneath.

FreezeCatch the current drone and hold it forever, an endless bed to play over.

Play it slow. Drown is built for held single notes and slow power chords that ring out. That is where the sub locks on and the drone blooms. Fast riffing is not the point; weight is.

What's inside

In the order your signal travels: a crushing, oversampled fuzz; an analog-style octave-below divider for the floor-shaking sub; a dark, huge tube amp and cabinet with scooped mids; a tightening gate that keeps the low end punchy instead of muddy; and a dark drone reverb the note blooms into. All of it tuned by ear and gain-staged to a proper studio level, so it hits hard but never clips your channel.

Presets

Eleven finished doom tones in the menu, top-right. Pick one, then nudge MURK and DEPTH:

Drown (house sound), Muff, Chug, Sludge, Tar, Wizard, Monolith, Funeral, Abyss, Freeze, Black Water.

The pair

Adrift and Drown are a matched set: same sea, opposite fate. Adrift floats you on the sunlit surface; Drown drags you to the black bottom. Run Adrift on the clean parts and Drown on the heavy ones, or stack them for something between weightless and crushing. Buy the pair and one license unlocks both.
